Divisions at MedAustron
These research activities are anchored in the Department of General and Translational Oncology and Hematology at Karl Landsteiner University for Health Sciences. It comprises three departments: Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology, located at MedAustron, and Molecular Oncology and Hematology at KL.
Medical Physics
The medical physics department with special emphasis on particle therapy is concerned with the development/optimization of medical physics methods in particle therapy. The methodology is coordinated with the departments of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Oncology and Hematology and includes dosimetry and microdosimetry, MC simulations, Big Data, radiation plan optimization, software development and process management.
Division Head: Univ.-Prof. DI Markus Stock, PhD
Radiation Oncology
The aim of the division Radiation Oncology with an emphasis on particle therapy is to optimize patients’ treatment with radiotherapy by applying the best standards of care and by performing clinical research and fostering the translation of preclinical research in a clinical setting.
Division Head: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Piero Fossati
